Betrayals - Lili St. Crow, Lilith Saintcrow I'm not sure where to start with this book. When I picked up Strange Angels, I was impressed by the cool cover. This one doesn't look as good, although I like the fact that they kept the same girl. In terms of the plot, I thought it was extremely slow in the beginning. In the end, I thought that too little happened and really nothing exciting occurred to bridge the gap into the next book. I thought it ended in exactly the same place as where this book started - a school.

I also wasn't fond of the writing style. This was one of the problems I had with Strange Angels as well. I didn't think it was interesting or made me feel like I could relate to Dru. She just seemed like a girl who experienced every possible hurt and hardship that could be mustered. I also hated the fact that she kept returning back to words from her Gran and father, like asking herself what they would do in this situation. It made her seem like she couldn't think for herself. It made her seem incompetent. I loved the point where Dru finally acknowledges that her father is really, truly gone. I've been waiting for that moment for a very long time. It almost got annoying hearing her whine all the time. I guess it's because we only have a glance at her father in the beginning of Strange Angels and never get to really identify with his character before he is killed off.

In terms of characters, I think Dru was a lot more confident in the first book. She just seems confused and scared most of the time in Betrayals. Graves has changed a lot. He's gained confidence and good looks to boot. Christophe is growing on me. I never really liked him too much until this book, although I'm still Team Graves. All in all, Betrayals was an okay read. I wouldn't necessarily read it again or recommend it to anyone. I don't know if I'll be picking up Jealously, which is the next book in the series. Only time will tell, I guess.
